Sure Start Children’s Centres have helped lots of children and families in Surrey already. St John’s Knaphill is a place to make friends and join in with activities which include:
Play and learn sessions where parents stay, have fun with their children and become involved with their children’s learning.- Sessions for mothers and new babies, to meet other mothers and discuss any concerns
- Dad’s groups
- Parenting support including courses or just someone to talk to
- Information on local homebased childcare and a chance to meet with registered Childminders
- Information about preschools and primary schooling
- Health information including antenatal advice and support, breast feeding, nutrition and help with giving up smoking.
- Healthy families, healthy eating and home safety
- Money matters advice
- Information and advice on employment and training, including links to Jobcentre Plus, Nextstep and Connexions.
- An internet kiosk with free access to hundreds of sites concerning families
- Baby/children's clothes exchange - free to use whenever we are open
- Breast pump/baby equipment loan - short term - small deposit
- Free information, advice and guidance from Surrey Family Information Service (FIS).
